The Possession

     Based on this poster, I really wanted to like this movie, I was pulling for it all the way. But the first strike was the rating, as I have said before, it's PG13! I really need to learn from my mistakes. Most of this movie is drama and story build up, which can be good but it mostly bored me. It really needed more stuff happening, esp through out the entire running time. Also, 90% of the good parts were in the trailer, kinda makes it less interesting that way. I was so bored during this movie I actually played on my phone during it, and I usually don't do that in the theater. Because of being bored I don't remember much, but I did take notes, expecting I wouldn't remember. So here are my notes, you be the judge on wether you need to see this movie.

Black blood

Student morgue

Dad gets the demon

Demon crawls out of his mouth

House At The End Of The Street

               
     Why did I see this? It's PG13, I should know better. Yet I feel deprived for good horror in the theater so I went. It wasn't super boring, but I wouldn't recommend it. Unless you have a crush on Jennifer Lawrence, cuz she's in a tank top for most of the film, which can be enough for some people. The story was ok, I liked the "twist" or whatever you would call it. But they don't show anything, from the beginning when the girl kills her parents, the POV is under the bed and all you see is bloody feathers.  I guess it's good for people who really can't watch movies with blood but want to see a "horror" movie. 

 This Guy was kinda cute though.

This one wasn't really that bad, more like ok, definitely not awful.

One continuous take

Interesting idea, but makes for some really long scenes

But makes for built in suspense

Small cast

Think about how things were executed more than other films

Minimal use of music but good use of sound

Pretty rad Victorian house

Huge house with like three stories and a crazy basement

Flash light up the room, I hate that, it’s fucking scary!

How did they do the make up? 

Great ending! 

I would recommend it to horror fans, totes worth a look. Some people can handle the slower ones and if that's you, it will be one you enjoy. I haven't seen the original but it may be worth a look.

What To Expect When You're Expecting

     This movie was ok, I liked when the dads were talking shit about being a parent, mostly because I don’t like kids. I like to watch shitty movies like this to remind myself that I don’t want kids. I liked that the color scheme was bright and pretty and the picture quality was pretty good too. I wasn’t too bored. It was only at the end that I stopped paying attention, when the babies were born. I’m not interested in the whole ‘I love my baby’ thing. I would recommend it if you like babies or want a shitty movie that takes your mind off your shitty life for a bit.  Also I liked all the different comedians I recognized in it (I did make an involuntary grunt when I saw JLo was in it though) I don’t feel like a better person for watching it, but I don’t feel worse either.

Amittyville 2: The Possession

     

     This movie was so bad! Not good bad either. I watched it because I was interested in a good bad movie, something like Psycho 4 (yeah, that’s real). I was bored with this one after about 20 min and finally grabbed my laptop at the 30min mark. The awful gags started right from the beginning, no build up or suspense. The new family moves in to the home at the beginning and right away there’s blood coming out of the faucet. This time it’s a family with two older siblings, two younger siblings and of course an abusive father, as well as a submissive mother. It’s the oldest sibling, the brother, which becomes possessed this time around. I only remember two parts being interesting. One was when the brother shakes the priest’s hand and his hand singes the priests, smoke and all. I forget if this is also the part where the kitchen explodes, I am pretty sure the scorching handshake gives way to the kitchen exploding- drawers and silverware flying, along with everything in the fridge. Good thing the kids were in the kitchen at the time too, hilarious. It makes me wonder if Paranormal Activity 2 got the idea from this scene, it was my fave scene in that movie too. The other part that was entertaining in this film kind of comes out of nowhere. The brother and sister are hanging out in his room and he tells her to take her shirt off, angrily too, and she does!  Why on earth would she take her shirt off for her brother?! So he goes on to have sex with her and she lets him! He’s not even raping her, why would she let him?! She goes to the confessional and explains that she slept with her “friend” and they are not in love, she says “he did it to hurt”. The priest asks who is it hurting and she says “god”. Best part of the movie! The priest freaks out and she runs out of the booth. This is where I stopped watching and went to do something else. I have no idea how this piece of crap ends. Hope I didn’t make it sound too good, please don’t waste your time, unless you are high, then it’s probably watchable.
